Mrs Davis
Mrs. Davis founded The Castle Kindergarten in 1994, driven by her deep commitment to early childhood education and her personal experience as a parent. After witnessing one of her sons struggle to settle into nursery, she was inspired to create a nurturing environment that would better support young children in their formative years.
With a background as a qualified teacher and experience in theatre, Mrs. Davis combined her passion for education with her understanding of the arts to establish a unique nursery that emphasises creativity and individual growth. Her vision was to build a place where children could thrive academically and emotionally, and her efforts have impacted countless families.
Her leadership and dedication extend beyond the nursery; she has also served as a governor for a local prep school, contributing her expertise to enhance educational practices in the broader community.
Her innovative approach and unwavering commitment to the well-being and development of children reflect her lifelong passion for education and her dedication to creating a supportive, engaging, and enriching environment for all who walk through the doors of The Castle Kindergarten.
Mr Richard
Mr. Richard joined the nursery in 2020 and has quickly become an integral part of our team. With a First-Class Honours degree in Early Education, he combines his academic expertise with a unique background in hospitality, having managed top restaurants in London and Paris. This blend of skills allows him to bring a fresh perspective to early childhood education, fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for the children.
Continuously driven by a passion for early childhood development, Mr. Richard is actively involved in advancing his knowledge and making an impact within the Early Years sector, both locally and nationally. His commitment to ongoing professional development ensures that he stays at the forefront of innovative teaching practices.
With his BA (Hons) in Early Years, Mr. Richard brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and a unique set of skills to his role. His presence has enriched our curriculum and given us a fresh approach to supporting and nurturing each child’s development.
Our Team
Mrs Cowlrick
Mrs. Cowlrick joined the Castle Team in 2019 after completing her teacher training. With a passion for nature and the outdoors, she has significantly influenced our curriculum, seamlessly integrating the natural world into daily learning.
She holds Early Years Teacher Status, a BA (Hons) in Early Years, and an NVQ Level 3, ensuring that her teaching is backed by strong academic credentials and expertise working at Wimbledon Common Preparatory School, among other top establishments.
Mrs Surkitt
Mrs. Surkitt joined our team in 2004 and has since become an invaluable part of the nursery. She leads our culinary teaching department, where she shares her passion for cooking with the children, creating engaging and hands-on experiences that nurture both practical skills and creativity.
She is a beloved team member, known for her tireless devotion and ability to connect with children on a personal level, making their learning journey both enjoyable and meaningful.
Mrs Taylor
Mrs. Taylor has been an integral member of the Castle Team for the past nine years, bringing her creativity and passion for the arts to every aspect of her work. As our resident art specialist, she leads all artistic activities, guiding the children through exciting projects that inspire their imagination and creativity.
Her dedication and artistic vision make her a beloved figure in the nursery. She is known for the joy and wonder she brings to every project.
Mrs Henry
Mrs. Henry is our longest-serving member of staff, having joined the Castle Team in 2003. With over two decades of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role every day. Her boundless energy, warmth, and attention to detail have made her a beloved figure among both the children and her colleagues.
Mrs. Henry holds an NVQ Level 3 qualification, combining her formal training with a natural gift for connecting with children. Her long-standing commitment to the nursery has made her an invaluable asset, and her caring, positive presence helps create a welcoming and engaging environment where children can thrive.
Mrs Morelli
Mrs. Morelli carries on a cherished family legacy at our nursery, following in the footsteps of her mother, who was our very first employee. Since joining the Castle Team in 2019, Mrs. Morelli has brought 24 years of childcare expertise, helping us refine and enhance our program for the youngest children in the nursery.
Her exceptional ability to settle even the most anxious of children has quickly earned her a reputation as a calming, nurturing presence.
With her vast experience and NVQ Level 3, Mrs. Morelli has been instrumental in shaping our early years curriculum, creating a warm and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and grow.
Mrs Chughtai
Mrs. Chughtai has a long-standing connection with the Castle, as all three of her boys attended the nursery in their early years.
Since joining, Mrs. Chughtai has been a breath of fresh air, bringing new energy and perspective to our nursery.
Mrs. Chughtai holds an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and a Level 3 qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN), making her particularly skilled in providing support for children with diverse learning needs.
Ms Humphries
Ms. Humphries began her journey with us as a volunteer in 2004 while completing her degree in Early Years Education. Since then, she has become a vital part of our teaching team, working with the older children in the afternoon sessions.
Ms. Humphries has a particular passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and her qualifications in this area have made her a key leader at the nursery. As the head of our SEN department, she has designed and led a thoughtful program of social skills games, helping children of all abilities build confidence, improve communication, and develop meaningful friendships.
Mrs Rowland
Mrs. Rowland has been our dedicated Thursday dance teacher for over 20 years, ever since founding her business, Dancestars.
Every year, her efforts culminate in a fabulous end-of-year dance show, where the children proudly showcase their hard work to parents and peers. These performances are a testament to her dedication and ability to inspire confidence and joy in every child.
Ms O’ Brien
Ms. O’Brien is our dynamic and vivacious singing teacher, whose larger-than-life personality has a magical way of drawing out even the most reserved children. With a voice that could easily grace the West End stage, she brings a sense of energy, excitement, and joy to every singing session she leads.
